How to get to Edinburgh. by train – take a train from Queen Street Station to Edinburgh Waverley Station (50 min journey) by bus – this is the cheapest way. I used Megabus as they offer the lowest prices (book in advance). Another option is CityLink. Take a bus from Buchanan Bus Station and get off at Edinburgh Bus Station ( hours journey). As others have said the fastest route by train is the high level (platforms ) services to Edinburgh Waverley from Glasgow Queen Street station, there are 4 trains every hour with a journey time of 50 Street also has low level (platforms 8 & 9) with trains to Edinburgh but these take an extra 30 mins journey time and there is no difference in the ticket price.

Answer 1 of Looking for easy to read Scotland guide books. I know Lonely planet and Dk witness. WHat I really want to know, who is better, Frommer or Rick Steves. I like those two because of the maps and tour suggestions, because we are not drivers. Thanks. Scotland in 10 days is a fabulous tour. Our guide James was perfect - he had a deep knowledge of historic Scotland, the geography and current issues facing Scotland. By the end the the tour just about everyone in our group of 28 had decided that James was the most interesting man in the world!
